Captured Caring: Inspiring Moments for January 2026
Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things. Captured Caring is a series featuring submissions from our people to provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other.
This has been an extraordinary winter, with record snow, transit disruptions and school closures. Despite these challenges, Sinai Health people have kept our hospitals running so we can continue to provide excellent care to our patients and their families every day.
Many of you have made the effort to leave very early to arrive for your shifts on time. You have supported colleagues affected by difficult travel conditions by staying late or covering shifts. Some of you have even arranged to stay close to the hospital overnight to ensure you would be available for your shift the next day.
We want to express our sincere gratitude for all your efforts and exceptional teamwork in the face of these challenges. Because of your dedication, our patients, families and communities know that Sinai Health is always here and ready to provide care.
The winter weather isn’t over yet, so please take care and stay safe.

During our vaccination campaign, we held a fun and friendly competition where departments with the highest vaccination rates were entered into a draw to win a tower of treats. Congratulations to the Pharmacy team at Mount Sinai Hospital and 7 South at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital, our well-deserved winners this year!
Thank you to everyone who received their vaccines during this year's campaign. You are helping to protect our patients and our community and each other from respiratory viruses.

Thanks to a grant from the Sinai Health Foundation, the Patient Library at Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital has added 130 audiobooks to our collection, This will allow more of our patients the opportunity to relax and enjoy a good story. Each audiobook is contained in a small electronic device that patrons can borrow and listen to using headphones we supply.
The device is designed to be as simple to use as possible, and has earned the Universal Design for Learning credential, which recognizes its ease of use for people with diverse abilities. There are no discs, tapes, or packaging materials. The devices run on batteries so there is nothing to plug in. They do not need to connect to the internet so there is no need to remember passwords or find a good signal.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Unit Council facilitated a holiday cheer initiative to collect donations for the Toronto Humane Society. The generosity of the ICU staff helped to make the winter a little more warm and bright for some furry friends.
