The Board of Directors of Sinai Health is pleased to announce Dr. Lynn Mikula has been appointed as our next President and CEO, following a comprehensive search process. Dr. Mikula’s first day at Sinai Health will be October 13, 2026.

Dr. Mikula is currently President and CEO of Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC), where she has held progressively senior leadership roles since joining the organization as a staff surgeon in 2011.

As CEO, she led the development of a new five year strategy to strengthen the organization’s foundation for innovation, collaboration and long term growth. She oversaw the expansion of PRHC’s data and analytics capabilities and guided the organization to become one of the first hospitals in Canada recognized as an Age Friendly Health System. She is the Board Chair of ENHANCE Ontario, a seven-hospital Epic collaboration.

“Dr. Mikula is a highly respected physician leader who shares our mission and values. She brings extensive experience in health-care leadership, governance and fostering system-wide collaboration" said Andrew Hoffman, Sinai Health’s Board Chair. "Her proven track record in supporting health-care teams and implementing strategic change will help build on Sinai Health’s existing strengths in research, education and clinical excellence while guiding its continued growth and impact."

Dr. Mikula is deeply committed to quality, innovation and engagement within the complex environment of health care. She sits at a number of regional, provincial and national tables, including as Chair of the Hospital to Home Task Force for Ontario Health atHome. She is a member of the Provincial Planning and Action Table for the Ministry of Health and the Board of Directors of Healthcare Insurance Reciprocal of Canada.

“I'm honoured to be joining Sinai Health at a time when academic health sciences centres are playing an increasingly important role in shaping the future of health care" said Dr. Mikula. "This is an organization with a remarkable legacy, and a mission I deeply believe in. I look forward to working with the teams across Sinai Health to build on that foundation of excellence, strengthening its leadership in research, education and compassionate care, while continuing to evolve and innovate for the future."

A graduate of McGill University’s School of Medicine, Dr. Mikula has a formative connection to Sinai Health. During her residency at the University of Toronto, she trained at Mount Sinai Hospital and later earned a Master of Science at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute in affiliation with the University. She also has a Master of Management from McGill University.

As we prepare for this transition, we recognize the extraordinary contributions of Dr. Gary Newton over the last decade as President and CEO, whose vision, dedication and leadership have helped shape Sinai Health.

“Dr. Newton has played a pivotal role in advancing our organization, from leading the continued integration of Mount Sinai Hospital and Hennick Bridgepoint Hospital to championing the growth of programs, services and strategic partnerships that have strengthened care across our system. We extend our sincere gratitude for his many contributions and lasting impact on our organization, our patients and our community,” said Andrew.
