Gastroenterologists

Gastroenterologists are physicians who have expertise in treating diseases of the digestive system, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Our gastroenterologists include:

Colorectal surgeons

Colorectal surgeons perform surgeries on areas of the small bowel, colon, rectum and anus. Our colorectal surgeons include:

Endoscopy technicians

Physician assistants

Our physician assistants work with the physicians and nurses to ensure continuity of patient care. They can answer patient questions, order some tests and help manage the treatment of IBD.


Nurses

Our registered nurses and nurse practitioners have specialized training in the management of IBD. They provide care for patients at our outpatient clinics, during hospital stays, and before and after surgery.

Nurses provide counselling, education and support for patients to help them manage and understand their treatment plans. 


Enterostomal therapists (NSWOC) 

Enterostomal therapists are nurses with special training in the care and education of patients with ostomies.


Social workers 

Social workers help connect in-hospital patients with community resources and support patient and family well-being. Learn more about our Social Work team. 


Dietitians 

Dietitians specialize in helping patients manage their symptoms with diet. Learn more about our Clinical Nutrition team.


Pharmacists  

Pharmacists help in-hospital patients understand and manage their medications. Learn more about our Pharmacy team. 


Learners  

Mount Sinai Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. You may see a medical student, resident or other medical trainees as part of your care.
