Orthopaedics Fellowships
Orthopaedics fellowships at Sinai Health offer advanced training in complex musculoskeletal care at Mount Sinai Hospital, an internationally recognized academic health-science centre fully affiliated with the University of Toronto.
Fellows work closely with expert surgeons, gaining experience in surgical care, ambulatory clinics and clinical research. These fellowships build the skills needed to manage challenging hip and knee reconstruction, limb-salvage procedures and orthopaedic tumours while contributing to innovations that improve patient outcomes in Canada and around the world.
Fellowship opportunities
Musculoskeletal oncology fellowship
This fellowship focuses on orthopaedic oncology. Fellows train under the direct supervision of Drs. Peter Ferguson, Kim Tsoi and Jay Wunder.
Orthopaedic oncology includes the following:
- Recognition of the natural history of musculoskeletal tumours

Time is divided between outpatient sports clinics, the operating room and general orthopaedic trauma call, with call coverage no more than 1:4 (home call). Rotations can be tailored to the fellow’s interests and availability.
Fellows are expected to contribute to teaching throughout the rotation. Responsibilities include objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), surgical skills lab instruction and didactic sessions with medical students, residents and health professionals. An annual two-day cadaver bioskills program provides additional hands-on training.
Research is a mandatory component. Fellows must produce a minimum of two published papers and present their work at a national or international orthopaedic meeting. The fellowship is for one year.
