Captured Caring: Inspiring Moments from April 2025

Every day our people at Sinai Health are doing extraordinary things. Captured Caring is a series featuring submissions from our people to provide you with inspiration and encouragement as we care for patients and each other.
“Sinai Health was proudly represented on a global stage at the International Symposium on Human Factors and Ergonomics in Health Care by a multidisciplinary team from Human Factors, Hospital Medicine, Information Services and the Science of Care Institute. The group shared innovative work that sparked meaningful conversations about embedding human factors into health system design and processes. Their work clearly showcased the positive impact of embedded Human Factors work in hospitals and the strength of cross-disciplinary partnership in advancing care. Congratulations and thank you to: Tabitha Chiu, Christopher Colvin, Angeli Figurado, Bisma Imtiaz, Sarah Jeffries, Dr. Rahul Joshi, Natasa Lazarevic, Tasha McFarland, Dr. Jordan Pelc and Paula Voorheis.”

“April marked Medical Laboratory Professionals Week. Did you know that Sinai Health’s team of Medical Laboratory Professionals performs over three million tests per year? Our dedicated laboratory teams are committed to quality and excellence in performing each of these tests. As 70 per cent of clinical decisions rely on laboratory results, we extend a very big thank you to everyone working across the many laboratory specialties. You play such a crucial role in patient diagnostics and treatment.”

“I would like to salute our amazing, awesome, Prenatal Tour Guide Volunteers in the Prenatal Education Program.
Emmeline, Bianca, Madeline, Tina, Victoria, Yagoda, and Zoe, have offered their services to expectant parents planning to give birth at Mount Sinai hospital.
Pregnancy and birth are an exciting time for families, but it can also be anxiety inducing. Having the opportunity to go and see the hospital space and the path their birth journey may take is invaluable for these families as is evidenced by the number of people that attend the tours.
The Prenatal Tour Guide volunteer team has contributed 225.42 hours from April 2024 through March 2025. That is a highly commendable feat!
It takes kindness, compassion and selflessness to serve in this role, and we have definitely witnessed these qualities in each and every one of these volunteers. A special thanks to Emmeline who has been with us from the beginning and has acted as a mentor to others; to Bianca for carving time out of her busy schedule to return back to the team; to Victoria, Zoe, Tina and Yagoda for ensuring they refer clients to the right person to answer questions when needed. Thanks also to Madeline who has only just started but is excited about her very first tour. If I could trap all that zeal, energy, generosity and altruism from all of these amazing ladies, in a bottle I would be rich. We are indebted to them for keeping this program going. They can be assured that it truly makes a positive difference in our clients’ birth experiences.”
