Oculoplastic Procedures

We perform specialized surgery on the eye socket, eyelids and tear ducts.

What we do

An oculoplastic procedure is a type of surgery performed around the eye, including the eye socket, eyelid and tear duct.

This is a very specialized type of surgery and our oculoplastic surgeons treat patients from across Ontario.

Our surgical team works closely with specialists in otolaryngology, anesthesiology, respiratory therapy and maxillofacial surgery to provide the best care plans for our patients.

We also interact with services at peer hospitals across the region, including:

  • The paediatrics team at The Hospital for Sick Children
  • The ocular oncology and radiotherapy teams at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre
  • The neurosurgery team at Unity Health Network
  • The craniofacial plastic surgery team at Sunnybrook Hospital

Visit the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery for more information on oculoplastic procedures and treatments.

What to expect

Many oculoplastic procedures can take place in our clinic. Some procedures must take place in an operating room.

Almost all oculoplastic procedures take place in one day and do not require a hospital stay.

Our Ophthalmology care team will provide you with the information you need to prepare for your procedure.
