Obstetricians
Obstetricians are physicians with specialized expertise in pregnancy and birth care.
Maternal-fetal medicine specialists
Maternal-fetal medicine specialists are obstetricians with specialized training in caring for patients with complicated or high-risk pregnancies.
Fetal cardiologists
Fetal cardiologists specialize in diagnosing and managing heart problems in babies before they are born. They work closely with other members of our care team to provide personalized care during pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born.
Anesthesiologists
Obstetric anesthesiologists are physicians who specialize in pain management during labour and delivery.

Family Medicine Team
Our family physicians, nurses and midwives provide comprehensive, team-based care throughout pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born. They provide full prenatal care, attend labours, deliver babies in hospital, and support newborn care after delivery in collaboration with our interprofessional team.

Geneticists
Geneticists are physicians with specialized training in diagnosing and managing inherited conditions. They interpret prenatal genetic screening results and work closely with genetic counsellors to give you the information and support you need.
Genetic counsellors
Genetic counsellors work with other members of your health-care team to help you understand genetic risks during your pregnancy. They can help you choose which tests are right for you, explain your results, provide emotional support and connect you with community resources.
Nurses
Our nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and nurses are essential members of our team. They bring expertise in pregnancy, birth and newborn care, and provide information throughout pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born.
Midwives
Our obstetrical care team works with registered midwives from the Midwives Collective of Toronto. Midwives provide care during pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born. At Mount Sinai Hospital, they provide primary labour and delivery care while collaborating with our nurses, obstetricians and anesthesia team.
Obstetric sonographers
Obstetric sonographers play an active role in your care. You may see them at the Centre for Excellence for Obstetrical Ultrasound or the Fetal Medicine Unit.
They perform detailed obstetrical ultrasounds throughout your pregnancy, including fetal anatomical surveys, placental and cervical assessment scans, and other assessments to monitor fetal growth and well-being.
Learners
Mount Sinai is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. You may see students, residents, fellows or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of the health-care team.
