Fetal cardiologists

Fetal cardiologists have specialized expertise in diagnosing and managing heart problems in babies before they are born. They work closely with other members of our care team to provide personalized care during pregnancy, birth and after your baby is born.

Geneticists

Geneticists are physicians with specialized training in diagnosing and managing inherited conditions. Our geneticists interpret the results of prenatal genetic screening tests and work closely with genetic counsellors to provide patients with information and support.

Genetic counsellors

Genetic counsellors work with other members of your health-care team to help you understand what the genetic risks are for your pregnancy. They can help you decide which tests are right for you and help you understand test results. Counsellors can also provide emotional support and help connect you with other resources in the community. 

Nurses

Our nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists and nurses are essential members of our team with expertise in pregnancy, birth and newborn care. They provide important care and essential information to patients throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum.


Midwives

Our obstetrical care team works with registered midwives from the Midwives Collective of Toronto. Midwives provide care during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. While attending births at Mount Sinai, midwives provide primary labour and delivery care while collaborating with our nurses, obstetricians and anesthesia team.


Obstetric sonographers

Obstetric sonographers will play an active role in your care. You may see an obstetric sonographer in either the Centre for Excellence for Obstetrical Ultrasound or the Fetal Medicine Unit. 

They perform detailed obstetrical ultrasounds, including fetal anatomical surveys, placenta and cervical assessment scans, and other assessments of fetal growth and well-being through the course of your pregnancy.


Learners 

Mount Sinai Hospital is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. You may see students, residents, fellows or other medical trainees as part of your care. Learners are supervised by other members of the health-care team.
